About the project
Baltía
An apartment building in Montes de Amé, Mérida, Yucatán (2024), with 75 apartments and 4 penthouses. Vegetation is concentrated in a large shared garden ten stories up, with a tree as its centerpiece, and the project includes 980 m² of amenities, among them a vegetable garden and exercise areas.
A complex of 75 apartments and 4 penthouses, with more than 980 m2 of comfortable amenities where you can enjoy family gatherings and quiet moments. It will also have a vegetable garden and areas where you can do the exercises you like most. It combines modernity with a natural setting, thanks to the large Álamo tree that will stand at the heart of this new neighborhood.

The challenge
Creating a higher-density housing project that would keep a sense of privacy, comfort and closeness to nature, while also encouraging interaction among its residents.
The design decision
Organizing the project around a large central void anchored by an álamo tree, making vegetation the heart of the complex. Circulation, views and shared spaces are arranged from this core, while a flexible structure and passive strategies improve shade, ventilation and thermal comfort.
